Last time on Musthave Tech I showed you how to win AdVenture Capitalist the...unorthodox way, to say the least. Check it out here.
Today I went to collect the rewards from my previous event I cheated on [a measly 8th place prize] and I realised Saturday Night Fever was on, and it ended in 3 days. I was grinning! The hardest event [and my vanilla experience confirmed this!] was on and I could break it to win it!
The Issue
Of course, since 4 days had passed, some sweaty person had reached 2.147 billion already. This posed a challenge since there was a chance he would draw with me. I had to find a way.
The Solution
I knew that in order to win this event, I had to beat the 2.147 billion sweat. So, I set about the standard practise of finding the right memory address for the point count. I set it as the 32-bit integer limit, and completed the task. Of course, the points looped back to negative 2 billion. Why wouldn't they?
That was until I realised something. The memory address's value was now over 2.147 billion. Perhaps this was because the game added points after I set the value and it got confused. This meant I had to set the value not as the 32-bit integer limit, but as enough for the game to add on points and MAKE it the 32-bit integer limit?
I tested it by selecting a simple task- equipping an item for 115 points. I used a search engine [Ecosia- you should use it too] to find:
2 147 483 647 - 115 = 2 147 483 532
I entered this value in, did the task and BOOM! The number was set to the 32-bit integer limit and I was now in 1st place.
Winning Never Felt So Good
I was happy. Content. I went to eat lunch. And I came back to write this article. I was happy that I had won AdCap's hardest event. So, I would like to present one more theory I have: What if I were dethroned?
How [I Think] AdCap Deals With Draws
I think AdCap deals with draws by placing the newest player with X points above the others. Meaning, I would have to find the address, and change it back to 0 and then to the 32-bit integer limit and I would shoot to 1st place again!
I'll test it someday, if I have to.
The point is, the leaderboards look like this:
2.147 billion [me]
2.147 billion [sweaty person]
1 billion [other sweaty person]
like 100 000 [poor guy who wasted his in-game money only to get 4th]
I love it.
There are only 18 people in the event currently...
