Here's a nice compilation of really poorly aged things as well as un-kept promises here at MHT! I'm sure you'll be positively angry.
Note: All entries are sorted from newest to oldest, so prepare to cringe more and more as you go further down the list.
This isn't a broken promise per-se, just a sequel that never happened. It was meant to be a guide to making you a bit more private in this horrible Panopticon we call the Internet. it had a lot of pretty good advice (and shitty jokes) and has aged pretty well. However, I did promise to add information about email, operating systems and de-Goolefying your Internet in part 2. I will make that. Trust me. I know you don't.
There were 7 scheduled articles, each of which *never* came out. Oops.
This was meant to be a bimonthly series where tech news from the tech magazine ComputerActive was rounded up into bite-size chunks. Again, only one part. Ouch.
I was meant to provide updates about my Ecosia stuff. 3 years of Ecosia'ing and the results are in:
Over 4000 trees! In early 2023, my tree count got reset for no reason (I was signed in, which was weird.), and my current tree count is a measly 123. AARGH. I even sent an email to Ecosia support, who were unsupportive. Still, 4000 trees is 4000x31.5KG Co2 absorbed = 126,000 KG, or 126 tonnes of CO2. That's equivalent to the world releasing Co2 for...2 minutes. Ouch. But still, your air is 2 minutes cleaner thanks to a single keyboard warrior tolerating a non-Google search engine. Also, based on this random climate calculator, my household releases 5.2 tonnes per year. 126,000 / 5.2 = 24230.76923076923 years, or just over 24,000 years of life. I doubt that I use 5.2 tonnes, it's probably more, but that is a massive W for me. I am excessively net positive in terms of CO2.
I seemed to have a new website in the works. Yeah, that aged well. Don't worry, I'm working on it.
This article was pretty honest. Out of the 7 things I mentioned, only 3 were incomplete. One of which I cancelled due to differing opinions about password managers. I will do the other 2, I guess.
Although I never promised it, I did intend to make a 2021 version. And a 2022 version. And a 2023 version as of today. I am a bad promise-keeper.
I only ever did one, in August 2020. Weird, isn't it? Wonder why? Maybe it's because it's boring and diffifult to do. Not doing another one.
Gaslighting. Lies. False sense of security. Worst article on MHT. It is virtually impossible to describe how truly AWFUL this article is. In fact, I've hidden it. Moved it to the trash. I've NEVER done that for ANY article. The reason? I'm too ashamed to keep it up. I can't have "Windows 7 survival guide" and "Here's why you can trust Google with your data like you trust your bank with your money" on the same site. I can tolerate a lot of old BS under the premise of archival and keeping a time capsule of sorts on the Internet to remind me of how horrible lockdown was, but this junk cannot stay for any longer. It will stay where it deserves, in the trash can.
(Note: I actually have 6 trashed articles, oops)
This was a long-running series in which I gave guides for really cool free Windows programs and utilities that made your life better. The most recent one was posted in...2020? I was under the impression that I made, like 3 of them. Man, can't even keep promises to myself!
Conclusion
I have made the following promises in this article alone:
New How to Respect Your Privacy
More Ecosia Updates
Site Overhaul
2 Articles from OG Upcoming Stuff
Windows 7 Survival Guide 2023 Edition
Keeping that filth away from the site
Another free program guide
Let's hope I can keep them, eh?
